FAQs

How long does it take to move an aquarium?

1-1/2 hours to pack up aquarium and fish then 1 hour to reinstall in new house. This is for system with no sump

How many people will come to my job?

We use hydraulic aquarium lifts to carry tank, so most jobs can be performed with 2 people.

How are my fish transported?

Fish are bagged with water and appropriate amount of oxygen to give them the most amount of time in bag. This process is used to ship fish from the other side of the world. The bags are placed into foam chests to maintain temperature. The chests are placed in your home where the temperature is constant. They are loaded into a temperature-controlled chamber on the truck just before departure and unloaded first at your new home.

Can I reuse my sand or gravel?

Most of the time sand is best to replace when moving. Nitrate and phosphate can build up in the substrate as both are heavy gasses. When you remove the sand and reuse, there is a chance the gasses can be stirred up and pollute the aquarium water, thereby harming your fish. An exception might be a smaller planted aquarium that can be moved with gravel left inside.

Why is a picture of steps important in the quote process? Stairs for large aquariums present a challenging situation. Most of the time we have ramps or a stair climbing tool. But have built custom solutions in past. Pictures allow us to create solutions prior to your move day. Also helps us determine if more people are needed.
